CURSES!!!!

Okay, I have some cooling down to do! It took me all day to do the post for this weekend's events, and I tried to save but it kept saying auto save failed. So, right as I was posting it, the internet page just closed and erased everything. SOOOOO...It may or may not come out tomorrow. I'm just bugged and frustrated. lol I'm going to go eat some ice cream and popcorn and watch a movie. Good night! :)

Holden's Wonderlands

This last week we tried some new things with Holden. My first attempt to shake things up at play time was to build a fort like we did when we were kids. I rounded up all of the blankets and got to work. I think I did a pretty swell job for not having built one in YEARS! :) Well, it was finished and the only thing Holden wanted to do was rip it down. :(( SO- then came the bribery! I put his books and some toys inside-but unfortunately it also took some sour patch kids to get him in there! I don't know why he loves them so much- he pulls a sour face with each one but keeps comin back for more! He stayed in there the whole time eating his treats- then...hmm....again, he was done! That is until Josh came home, and sure enough, he LOVED the fort with Josh! Seriously...I guess this is where Holden starts to show favorites. I have realized that when daddy's around, it's all fun and games. Truly, I am grateful that he adores Josh so much and vice versa. Watching them play together and listening to Holden's squeals makes me so happy. He's happy doing anything with Josh! Yesterday Holden and I were playing -with the front door out of sight! As soon as Josh wiggled the lock and opened the door, Holden let out the most GIRLY squeal EVER! lol He couldn't see Josh, he just KNEW it was him. He just walked as fast as his little legs would go to get to Josh! Gotta love that!

The next activity was to take Holden to the Disney store. Although we are throwing him a Winnie the Pooh party, he is HUGE into Mickey Mouse! The one show that he loves to watch is The Mickey Mouse Club. As soon as Mickey appears on the screen, he just squeals in excitement. So, when we got to the Disney store, the first thing he saw was a big stuffed Mickey Mouse. He was in heaven. The whole time in the store he just babbled like crazy and was sooo excited. I was holding him and he grabbed a little mini stuffed Mickey Mouse. SO- not wanting to spoil our child...lol...we bought it for him-uh....for his birthday..yeah.. that's it! lol But Josh tried to take it away from him to buy it and he just started to cry. It makes me laugh only because I don't think my kid is spoiled and I take things away from him all of the time. He doesn't really care about having things yet. So, that's why it was so funny that he was soooo attached to the Mickey Mouse. He carries it by the arm (there is a permanent dent there now) around the house everywhere he goes- as well as to bed with him.

So, that's the end of our new adventures for the week! This last pic is of Holden's REAL first haircut where I literally cut inches off of his mop! His hair was so light and fine, I didn't realize just how long it had gotten! But he was so happy after it was all done- okay, maybe not as happy as mom was- but still, happy!

Valentine's Stuff!

Okay, so everyone else posted their Valentine's Day activities, so I had to follow suit! On Valentine's Day, Josh had a night class, so we decided to go out on Friday night instead. But to celebrate in little ways I made him Cinnabon Cinnamon Rolls for breakfast and gave Josh's car a Heart Attack. For dinner that night I got a great idea from Rachel to make a homemade pizza with heart shaped pepperoni pieces! It was sooo delicious and so easy to make. It will now be a regular item on the Mercer Menu!
While Josh was at class, I made cookies for all of Holden's friends! Yeah! Like the will ever know, so I told the parents that they could eat the cookies! lol So funny thing, at 8:00 I'm running these valentines around and it didn't dawn on me until halfway through my journey, that although I wasn't celebrating Valentine's Day, that others were...lol So, I got some surprised looks from some people. I finally realized that they were wondering why I wasn't home with my husband instead of running around by myself in the cold- and why in the world I was bothering them. Well, I quickly decided to knock, leave the cookies and run. They probably think my love life is non existent. SOOOOO. To put any rumors to rest...

Josh got home from his class and informed me that he had bought stuff anyway and wanted to decorate for me anyways. So, He decorated the room with rose petals EVERYWHERE! He got me a couple gifts...one of which was stealing my phone so he could install a new ring tone. If any of you know, I am a HUGE Wicked fan. He got me the song Popular for my new ring tone. You may laugh, but I actually started to cry! Seriously...I am so easy to please! hehe Oh well, I just thought it was so thoughtful because it was something I had mentioned I thought would be fun months and months ago. So, I think it took me by complete surprise and it overwhelmed me to see what an amazing, thoughtful husband I have! He also got me a load of chocolates- something I don't need, so you're all invited over to eat some!

Well, the next day I did a little shopping for Josh getting him some blueberry truffles, something he loves! We got a baby sitter for Holden and we were off. Josh took me to the nickelcade where we had a blast-even all dressed up! Then he suprised me by taking me to the Chef's Table! We have talked about this since the day we were married and how much we would like to go there. Needless to say, he had saved up and we had probably THE most amazing food I've ever had. I had a steak that melted in my mouth with a chiffon cake for dessert. Josh had steakl and lobster. We both felt like Bob- in What About Bob- when he's at the dinner table eating the chicken and corn. lol There were lots of oohs and aaahs. :) The pianist took our requests playing everything from Rachmaninoff to Wicked! hehe He was amazing and only 17 years old! Seriously! We thought it was worth it to go there jsut for the music- like our own private concert of the classics! We then returned to the nickelcade to win Holden a snake for his birthday, then called it a night! Unfortunatley I'm retarded and had my camera but forgot to take pics!

Josh and I were talking about Valentine's Day and how important it is for us. Especially when our kids get older- it will be important for them to see that mom and dad take this special time to be with each other. I love marriage and am so blessed to have Josh as my husband! I am so in love with him...and hmmm is this getting too mushy? Okay...I'll stop! But 3 cheers for Valentine's Day and the celebrations of the truest loves!

Angels in My Life!

So, this week has been anything but fun. I don't know, but I think I might be the most frail person in the world. I feel like I am always sick with something. Colds, ear infections, migraines flu etc... :) Okay, I might be exaggerating JUST a bit, but maybe because it's I HATE being sick. Thank goodness I have angels in my life as I'm sure you all do. No seriously, I don't think I really realize how blessed I am in my life, until I am down and out, and someone shows up to lend a helping hand. Then I have to sit back and thank Heavenly Father for the watchful eyes of others and their caring hearts!

My whole life I have always had migraine headaches here and there, which really haven't been a big deal- when they only happen once in a while. Well, this week, my head decided to have 3 of them...one every day. I spent the fourth day recovering with minor headaches. Well, the first day my friend Rachel called randomly and asked how I was doing. In about 5 minutes she was over at my house collecting my little boy and his things to take him until Josh got home. Man, a huge blessing. Poor Holden was crawling all over mom wondering what on earth was wrong with her. The next day, my friend Liliana brought over some groceries because she was just at the store and thought I might need some of the things that "you run out of so quickly." I just laughed. How thoughtful. Then last night, out of the blue, my visiting TEACHEE no less, called ME up and asked if I had made dinner yet and told me she had made a ton of soup and was sending some over with her husband. When he got to my house, my stairs outside were treacherous with ice and snow. Without asking any questions, he went and got a snow shovel and a regular shovel to clear away the ice and snow. He didn't say, "why don't you get your husband out here to clear this, or why don't you clear the stairs...they're dangerous!" It's not that we're so lazy, but Josh works and right now he's taking night classes so some nights does't get home til after 9pm.

So, these are just a few of the beautiful services that have blessed my life this week. I feel like this theme is a VERY familiar one in my life. It constantly makes me check myself to see what I am doing to find others that are in need as well. It seriously is a testimony to me of the fact that when we are in the service of our fellow men we are in the service of our God. The feelings of gratitude that I feel for these people is overwhelming and the joy I always feel when serving others is such an essential part of my life. I feel like a learn so much from others around me and how one can really serve if you truly seek the opportunities. I also have to put in a plug for the spirit because none of these people knew that I was feeling sick, but randomly called and came to my aid. What cool things are the spirit and the gospel of service! It's definitely a lesson to me to keep my eyes WIDE open, because sometimes not all opportunities are as apparent as others.

So, I think that will be my goal this week- To try to really listen to the spirit and see what I can do to serve others! Have a great day- I know I will!
